TheFoodScanner is an educational consumer-awareness tool. Hazard scores, ingredient classifications, daily safe limits, banned-abroad status, and verdicts are informational only and are drawn from published regulatory and scientific sources.

Nothing on this Site is medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Do not rely on a scan to diagnose, treat, or manage any health condition. Always consult a qualified medical or nutrition professional before making decisions about your diet or health.

We build the ingredient database carefully from published sources, but we make no warranty that every classification, daily safe limit, or banned-abroad entry is current, complete, or applicable to your jurisdiction. Additive regulations change; some entries may lag those changes.

OCR is performed in your browser and is inherently imperfect. Recognition accuracy depends on image quality, lighting, and packaging typography. A scan may miss ingredients or misread text. Always read the physical label yourself.

THE SITE AND ALL INFORMATION ON IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TheFoodScanner and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site — including any purchasing, dietary, or health decision made after a scan.

You agree not to: (a) attempts to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the Site; (b) scrape or republish the database at scale without permission; (c) use the Site to defame, harass, or misrepresent a brand with selectively-edited scan output.

You may share scan results honestly and unaltered. Screenshots that have been edited to change a score or verdict misrepresent the tool and are not endorsed by us.

The Site’s design, source code, and prose are owned by TheFoodScanner. The ingredient database may be maintained openly; specific licensing is noted alongside the data. Third-party libraries (Astro, React, Tailwind, tesseract.js) remain under their respective licenses.

We link to external regulators and brands for reference. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content or practices of those external sites.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
