Can I scan a food label online without an app?
Yes. The Food Scanner is a web-based food label scanner — open /scan in any browser, allow the camera (or upload a photo), and it reads the ingredients panel and returns a health hazard score with no app install.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android, plus any desktop browser with a connected camera — none of which require an app-store install.
Do I have to upload my photo to a server?
No. OCR runs locally in your browser via Tesseract, so the image is processed on your device. It is not uploaded to or stored on any server we control.
What does the score mean?
The health hazard score is a 0–10 weighted sum of the flagged ingredients — Very Dangerous additives count more than Moderate or Low-Risk ones — capped at 10. Any score of 7 or above also surfaces healthier, clean-label alternatives.
